Room Decor: Mood Boards

How to refresh your room fast and easy? Pretty photo collages!
Let's say you want some hairstyles on your wall, you know, to make you look like a pro hair stylist. Or whether you're a pet lover, fashion freak, enjoy the sunset or other landscapes, your own personalized mood board should make you happy.

1. Dig out magazine or buy one with lots of big photos. Hair Ideas has awesome pictures of... hair style ideas. Fashion magazines will have the latest clothes, pet magazines contain photos of cute animals, pro photograph magazines will have landscapes and interesting objects... you get the point.

2. Find a paper of your preferred size. I'd go for at least A3, nice and big.

3. Cut out photographs you like - duh.

4. Time for the real deal! Place it on the paper like a moodboard -  I don't want to see any white spaces from the paper (unless you want to add some drawings)! Rip around the photos and cut shapes to make it more interesting.

5. Stick it on of course! Now you can leave it, or add drawings, doodles, and little messages if you left blank spaces.

6. You can create a boarder out of paper and decorate it by drawing on it - any patterns that complement your room will do.

7. Stick it on your wall. Use blu-tack so it won't damage your wall.

8. Now you can do as many of these as you like. You can even change it up as seasons past. Beautiful, a work of your own art.

Here's a few examples and different styles. Layering, neat placing, desk layout...

PS: Mood boards will also look great in art sketchbooks (especially if you add your own drawing skills) or University portfolios (e.g. to show off your fashion eye).

  1. I’m impressed, I have to say. Really hardly ever do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you might have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is something that not sufficient people are speaking intelligently about. I am very joyful that I stumbled across this in my seek for something referring to this.
