Happy Halloween!

Kids are knocking on our door since 5 o'clock. Oooh, fun fun!
Some of them are really cute though!

Most of you probably feel a bit too old for trick-or-treating in fancy costumes all night. Maybe you even missed a cool dress-up party! You have done NOTHING for Halloween! :(

But don't worry, there are still some activities you can try before tomorrow!

1) Watch movies: Horrors are an option, but if you chicken out, there's always Scary Movie on the shelf (or the internet). I'm sure lots of films will be broadcasting on TV tonight. You can always watch Pretty Little Liars, they can be scary as.

2) Walk outside: Put on your scary costume with your friends, and have a fun walk around the neighborhood in the dark! It will make you feel good. May sound a bit dull, but if you fool around with your friends (maybe scare a kid or two, or even go trick-or-treating in the end!). You can check out other people's Halloween decorations.

3) Scary stories: Get your siblings/ friends together for a last minute sleepover, or skype together even, and make up scary stories!

Well, those are some ideas. Anyway, HAPPY HALLOWEEN (not that I celebrate it much, but hey, let's have fun and jump and laugh)!

PS: I'd like to thank all my readers! I have so many in such a short time! You're awesome, make sure to follow my blog (find the follow button at the right side of this website, under 'The show of the Month'.

Hair Week Challenge!

Next week, have a go at the challenge to wear these hairstyles:

Monday

Beehive
Maybe not as big as Rihanna's, but a small bump at the back will do.
Just backcomb your hair at the back, smooth the frizz with a comb, and pin in place. You can even leave the rest of your hair down for a preppier look.

Tuesday

Fishtail Braid
If you don't know how to make one, google it (because I don't know either, that's how amazing I am). For best effects, make the braid really neat and braid quite tightly, but have your hair falling freely around your face, like Emily above.

Wednesday
Jessie J Hair
Ponytail
Up, down, poker straight, wavy... Who cares, just wear a ponytail. If you choose to have it straight and sleek, try to have it tight, and add earrings like Jessie to frame the face.

Thursday

Headband
Whether you push your hair back with your headband to create volume (like Reese), or keep your bangs on show, if you wear it the right way, you win! Dark colours for blondes, light and colourful for darker haired girls!

Friday

Messy
We may not like Kristen, but she sure knows how to work the couldn't-be-bothered-to-brush-my-hair look!
It's friday, so let your hair rest and go wild! Let it lay down, be wavy, frizzy, and uneven - maybe you'll love it more than you think!

If you do complete this challenge, well done, well done. Have a nice bubble bath and celebrate that you tried out so many new hairstyles. Sometimes, trying new things can make you feel great.

Dear It Girl, should I change schools next year?

Q - I've been going to the same school for 5 years now, and I'm finishin my last year. Next year is 6th form time! I don't love my recent school, but i got pretty used to it after such a long time.
I havent made any close friends in my year - I usually have to trail after my older sister and hang out with her mates at break (she doesn't mind, but since im younger, her mates treat me like a baby). Anyway, I'd love to have a fresh start and make some real friends for once, but I can't cope with change! We moved house 3 times in 6 years (all very close to eachother), but I just can't cope with anymore change! Help?
Anab., 16

A - Picture me 2 months ago, one day before the start of school. I hadn't decided which school I want to attend. Horrible. I don't like to admit it, but I burst out crying the day before school, because I had no idea which bus I was taking the next day. I had two choices - either stay at my old school, or have a fresh start.
I felt almost like you - I don't like change. But I wanted something new, really badly.
My advice to you, is to keep both doors open. You have a long time till you have to know for sure. But If I was in your shoes, I'd go for the new school.
Do this: Create a new alter-ego. A brave, bold, unique, girl who is a social butterfly and smiles when she feels like it! Make up a nickname even. Go to your new school next year and act like your new alter ego. But this doesn't mean to forget the real you, just mix it up a little, and when you make friends, you can go back to however you feel best at. Nothing wrong with being an outsider, just make sure you're not pushed back - meaning, enjoy the life of your own year group, not your sister's. Join in. Talk to people. Have fun!

How to have a Vanity table/area!

A simple vanity!
Ah, the glamorous lives of Hollywood movie stars and rich girls living in penthouses! They love their vanity tables! Huh, what's that? You wish you had a vanity table? And felt like them while doing your hair in the morning? It's actually not that hard to make one - or even fake one!

Find an area:
  • If you have a decent table in your room, great! You can even use a night table. I don't have a table in sight, so I use the top of my wardrobe. You a basically use anything that is high enough for you to use comfortably.
  • The other was is to find a table-high cardboard box, which is strong enough to hold some objects, and paint it/ stick nice decorative paper over it to make it look pretty.
  • The other thing you can do, is use a shelf - but again, make sure you can actually use it as a vanity and it's not too high/low.

Collect items:
  • Mirror: Find a mirror - the bigger the better - which can stand (has that thingy at the back which keeps it standing), or lean it against the wall, but make sure it doesn't fall (use items to keep it stable). Decorate it, if it isn't already, with paint - you can paint on small roses of your favorite colour, with gentle stems curling around the edge of the mirror. If your mirror doesn't have any edge, paint on the mirror itself, e.g. in the corners!
  • Objects: Time to find any items you use regularly - and that look good! This is the classic list of basics:
          - Perfumes: One or two of your favourite perfumes will be handy and makes any vanity look nice!
          - Jewelry: Not too much, but a box of your favourite earrings, or a rind holder, is great!
          - Book: If you have enough space, a book you're in the middle of is right there when you need it.
          - Make-up: I don't wear much make-up, but my purple lipstick and peach blush are always there.
          - Hair Brush: Duh, where else are you gonna do your hair than in front of your mirror?
          - Vase with flower: Just a small flower will keep you room fresh and won't steel your oxygen!
          - Photo: An image that means the world to you!
          - Any other stuff you use to get ready in the morning - this is the place for it!
Use containers to organize your stuff! This will keep you organized and will make your vanity much      clearer and glamorous looking.
You can also make a themed vanity - if you're a nail designer, keep mainly your nail polishes and equipment here. Live for make-up? This is a great spot for your beauty box!

Essentials:
  • You'll need a chair to sit on to be comfortable while grooming yourself
  • If your vanity is too high, I'm sorry, you're standing.
  • Make sure your vanity is not overfilled with stuff - the point is to keep it organized and neat!
  • Also, make sure it's safe - especially if your mirroris leant against the wall! If you use a large cardboard box, makesure your mirror is light enough (they sell mirrors on paper)

Vanity Girl (vanities don't make us vain!) x

Split ends: How to prevent them!!

I hate split ends. They make my hair look dry and cheap, when everybody knows I'm worth a million bucks!
Anyway, this is how to try and prevent them for as long as you can, so your hair can look healthy and glamorous!

"  If you already do have split ends, cut them off! I know there are some treatments that apparently get rid of split ends, but they don't - they might work a bit, but as soon as you shampoo, it's back to Christmas tree hair. Cut them off so they don't keep splitting higher and higher - trim is the only cure for split ends! But now, you have to maintain them un-split...
"  Get your hair cut every 2 months. If you can't afford dishing out cash for salons so often, do it yourself,or let your friend/ family member do it for you!? With the right YouTube vid and patience, it's simple as π!
"  Satin pillowcases, instead of your usual cotton, will prevent hair tangling and knotting - the hair will slide on the smooth pillow surface. Don't worry, they shouldn't be anymore expensive than normal pillowcases! If, however, they are, buy a sleeping satin cap (you wear overnight) - it's on Amazon or in Sally's for not even £2!
"  Brushing your hair when it's wet is a big NO-NO! Only use a wide tooth comb when your hair is wet or damp. Fine combs and brushes are only for dry hair!
"Try to keep the heat products to a minimum! Let hair dry naturally and only use hair straighteners when it's an emergency! Trust me, you can live without heat!
"Wear hats outside! At winter, a nice knitter beret for wintertime to protect it from the cold air, and a pretty sunhat for summer, to hide your locks away from the sun rays! This doesn't mean you have to wear hats all the time though - fun comes before hair! Just occasionally!
Love this hat!
"Tie your hair to a bun when you go to bed. This will not only keep hair tucked up, safe from splitting, but also out of your face - hello clear complexion! Plus, if you shower in the evening, your hair will keep the nice smell from any products you used! Awesome.
"Use thinning shears between cuts. This can get rid of some split ends without shortening your hair, before you get it trimmed properly. Do this only once between your trims.
"Wear a swimming cap for pool time.
"Deep condition one a month. You can do this with olive oil - just masage a small mout of olive oilinto the scalp, run through hair with a comb, and then apply gently to your ends. Leave in hair for however long you want, then either leave it in or rinse with lukewarm water.
"Don't use hot HOT water in the shower too often. Hot showers are my love, but I enjoy them two times a week only. The other days, I settle with warm :(
"Try to keep chemical usage to a minimum - too much treatments and chemicals will harm your hair.
Not too many chemicals!
"And lastly, don't stress about it too much. If your hair is pretty much doomed, like mine, don't go crazy about it. Believe it or not, there's more to life than pretty hair. Just enjoy life and all of your hair off! Wahoo (this is optional, obv).

Where have you been, Janet Devlin?

Misha B, Amelia Lily, Marcus Collins... all already broke into the music business despite not winning the X Factor in 2011. But what about the competition's favourite, Janet? Everyone was always predicting she'll have contracts from like, everyone - but she was nowhere to be seen!

Buuut, now! The Irish 18-year-old has revealed not one, but two new tracks! Yep!
View it!!
I like how she doesn't do that high note thing with her voice that much anymore. It was nice when she first auditioned, but then it totally sounded like it was hard work to do it - like it didn't come naturally.

Anyways, I like 'Wonderful' especially, it's easygoing.

Juice Cleanses = BAD idea!

Blake Lively once advised millions of habitants to 'go for' juice cleansing.
What is juice cleansing, I hear you ask?
It is basically drinking only fruit and vegetable juices for a few days to attempt to lose weight or stop smoking. The idea is that you will get most nutrients from juices and no need of normal food.
But it's not as easy as that. Juice cleansing has many bad side effects:

  • Slows down metabolism: For those of you who are trying to lose weight by juice cleansing, it only slows down your metabolism. What this means is, as soon as you get back to normal eating habits, you will most likely gain weight rather than losing it.
  • Damages body: Unless you haven't heard, juices are healthy unless you drink too much of them. So juice cleansing is damaging to some of your body organs.
  • Bad teeth: Juice is full of acid, that's why you should only drink juice while eating a meal, otherwise the acid can damage your teeth, big time! Drinking just juice without eating for several days can totally ruin your pearls!
  • Salt deficiency: This will cause you weakness, headaches, nausea... So hello dark circles under-eyes  brittle nails and weak hair!
  • Bad breath: Eating breakfast gets rid of bad breath - juices won't!
  • Nutrients deficiency: You might think that juices will provide you with lots of nutrients... they won't! They do contain vitamins, fibres, and waayyy too much sugar. Not enough healthy fat (which you actually need for many things, even strong hair and clear complexion), carbohydrates for energy and many more!
The lost goes on. So no thank you, Blake Lively - next time, think before you advise millions of people something that can be actually damaging.

So, in other words, juice cleansing is just a myth that people do. NEVER do it!
PS: Don't try to lose weight by crazy diets! Love your body the way it is, and if you actually NEED to lose weight (when it's affecting your health), then do it by eating healthy meals, and exercising regularly! No crazy diets!

Rihanna's new Perfume: Nude

If you're a fan of Rihanna or perfumes, you're gonna love this! She's releasing a third fragrance (after the successful Reb'l Fleur and Rebelle) which is called Nude (er, what else, it's Rihanna we're talking about..)

Her latest incarnation: Rihanna tweeted this new ad for her new fragrance 'Nude' on Friday
The ad campaign for the new fragrance Nude
I happen to own the first one - Reb'l Fleur. The opening of the fragrance is gross, but in a few minutes, the warm vanilla and various flower scents come out, and it smells delicious! Let's hope this one doesn't dissapoint either.

Stay tuned x

All that glitters: Glitter eyes!

It's the A/W season = helloooo glitter/shimmer/sparkle/shine!

Anything that glitters is my love! I literally went around a £10 dress shop - I spotted a glittery black dress through the windows, went in and grabbed it. This doesn't happen to me usually (I'm super picky).

And now, transfer the glitter from your clothes to your eyes!

Beautiful A/W make-up trend!

Shimmer Dusts

  • For a dramatic night-look, dip your eye shadow brush into the dust pot and carefully apply a thin layer all over your lid (or where you want it). Keep adding more layers until you're satisfied with the boldness of the colour.
  • For a gentle day-look, shake the pot a little, take the lid off and dab your ring finger on the lid (it should have a thin layer of glitter stuck to it) and apply evenly on your eyelid. Re-apply a layer on the eyelid, and when the colour is satisfying (and day suitable = not too bold), then finito!
The best way to wear bold glitter is with simple make-up. That is nude lips and soft cheeks.

If you're going to a party, you can even add rhinestones to the inner corners of your eyes for that lioness look, or anywhere around your eyes! Get creative.

Dear It Girl... My friend is stealing from me!

Q - A few weeks ago, I had my friend Emma* round. The day after, I couldn't find my glitter eye stick. I thought it must be somewhere, so no big deal. But ever since then, my stuff has been disappearing slowly: my dangle earrings, my headphones, my old magazines (which I collect) and my ring (it was one of those cheap ones, but still) - after every one of her visit,a few things were 'lost'. Then, a few days ago, I saw her in town with hey boyfriend (she didn't see me) - she was definitely wearing MY dangle earrings! I know for a fact she didn't have the same ones, as I got them from my aunt from Germany ages ago! I've also seen photos of her at house parties wearing lots of glitter - just like tthe glitter pencil I used to have. I'll see her in school after half term because I didn't want to make any plans with her. Should I confront her?
Alice*, 16

A - Finally, something normal!
If I were you, I'd make 100% sure that it's her. Be sneaky and show up at her house, unannounced. That way, she won't have time to hide any of your stolen stuff! If she tries to make excuses and won't let you in, just be persistent.
It's hard to confront a friend about a thing like stealing - what if it's a misunderstanding blah blah blah. Well, just drop a few hints: 'I saw you in town the other day and I loved your earrings - I had some like it but I can't find them anywhere' and 'I saw photos on FB - nice glitter, I had the same glitter stick - I wonder where it is?' And watch her expression. If she doesn't budge, just kindly ask her if she has no idea where your stuff is going, if she doesn't know about your other friends and tell her you won't be mad.

If all fails, or you don't have the guts to confront her, simples. Don't ask her round again. Always say you're not in the mood, you have plans etc. Only if there are more people, and still keep an eye on her.

Abraca-dabra, problem solved!

Happy scheming x

Dear It Girl... How to get revenge on my BFF?

Q - Okz so my bff had a bday partay and she didnt invite me. i asked her in school and she said its cuz her parents think im bad influence! it's my bday soon and i invited her, but i want to give her revenge. look. i know what im goig to do i just eed adivce how. were going to a restaurant and i want to have diarhea into her food and say its sauce. im gonna do it before everyone comes so noone knows and then tell everyone she ate my diarhea! how do i get diarhea though? pls doont try to tell me not to do it cuz i will.
Ella, 12

A - Ok, so the age of my audience is starting to scare me.

Go to a grocery store. Buy a bottle of prune juice and drink up - diarrhea, here we go! It will flow out of you like Niagara falls! If you really want it to explode, eat citrus fruit and green vegs to top it off. Boom.

No, but seriously, you need to grow up. I have a feeling this is a troll - and a bad one.
(Like, what the hell did I just read?!)
But this isn't the first time I saw someone trying to give revenge by diarrhea. To all you.. challenged ones out there - if you hate your 'bff' so much, break up with her and find a new one (if you're lucky enough to get new friends).
And Ella, do you really want to enter your teens like this?

Boo. Is all I can say x

So Tulisa has 'fag ash breath'

Sitting in my living room and watching X-Factor, I wasn't expecting much of the show, as usual.
Then something awesome happened. Tulisa got burned!

Tulisa was rabbiting about Chris killing every song - and being pretty harsh, too:

Tulisa: How many of these '80's classics are you going to let him keep destroying? Every week he's getting the same critique from all of the judges. I even feel bad having to say the same thing.
Gary: I don't know what's offended me more. What you've said or your fag-ash breath.

This is the point where I was probably on the ground and crying from laughter. My friend hid her face, turned to the sofa and did the same.
Open-mouthed: Tulisa looked stunned as Gary Barlow accused her of having 'fag ash breath' on The X Factor on Saturday night
*Sings* You just got buuurrrneedd.

I have to admit, I felt very sorry for Tulisa though. It's bad enough to get told your breath smells bad - but on live TV? Bummer.
After about 30 seconds thinking, Tulisa then attempted to hit back with a 'witty comeback, saying "Just a note for Gary, lay off the red wine becuz I can smell that as well."
No offence, but that's like someone telling you that your shoes are ugly, with you replying: "Oh yeah? Well - your shoes are ugly as well!"
What made me laugh even more is that as Tulisa sais this, Gary shifted away from her!

It's not that I hate Tulisa, I haven't got anything against her, and I have to admit she's a good vocalist, but what she said was pretty rude. I know she's payed to say her opinion, but as they say: What goes around, comes back around (and hits you in the head twice as hard).

Shut up and watch it!

Best episode ever x

Funniest. Video. Ever.

Just shut up and watch!

Of course, most of Ryan Higa's vids are just as funny! Check this out as well:

I'd say I fell on the chair by the end of the rap battle. But that just doesn't happen to me (or does it..)

Lucy Spraggan 'too ill' to sing!

Whoa, what is that I hear? Apparently, Lucy Spraggers is too ill to sing on the X Factor tonight - says she has a 'severe flu'.

She has been sent straight through to the next round!

Hmm.. Weirdly enough, she has been spotted partying a lot.

Anyways, a lot of people were Facebookig and tweeting that Jade should've been let through - she was ill last time, wasn't she?

"Sorry but it's unfair how Jade Ellis was made to sing when she was ill but Lucy Spraggan isn't."

"She should just leave the competition" Jade was "ill" last week but still performed."

That's all x

How to choose your A-level subjects

It's THE time of the year - all the upper high school students of the UK are to choose their 6th form subjects - four only! I remember, this time last year, I was stuck.
You might have troubles with picking only four subjects. Some of you will be stuck on what to choose! Well, here are some tips for you to try!

1) Visit Open Evenings/Days
Make a list of all the potential 6th forms you'd like to go to next year. Visit their websites or call to find out the dates for open evenings. It's excellent - not only you'll get an idea of which school you love the most; it's the best opportunity to ask teachers questions about the subjects and see what to expect from it!

2) Do your research
Picking the right A-levels is important or your future job. You should do a research before picking your subjects. Know what career you want to do already? Then ask your teacher what subjects are necessary (for example, Chemistry is essential for medicine, Art or Textiles for fashion design etc.)! Surf the net for some advice too! Yahoo Answers and Student room forums are answers from real people; UCAS has requirements for certain courses from Universities themselves.
The internet is gold for subject researching! Relief.

3) Keep your options open...
...if you're still undecided what you want to do when you're older, or if you have no clue! There's no problem with not knowing, it's just the subject choice! My advice to you is to keep the option doors wide open. Choose some academic subjects, like Maths, Biology, Geography, Languages... and some that you enjoy doing (any subjects!). Having at least one academic subject is great, but make sure it's something that you're good at - otherwise there's no point.

4) Don't choose on behalf your friends!
This happens a lot: Everyone from your friend group is picking e.g. English. You're terrible at this subject, but you don't want to loose your friends, so you do it anyway - you'll dig your way through somehow, right? Wrong! This is your future we're talking about! If your best friend or even all of them are interested in completely different subjects than you, don't follow their footsteps. It may be hard, but you can always hang out at breaks, free hours and after school. Besides, you won't have time to chat in lessons in 6th form!
(This doesn't count if you both truly like the same subjects - that's awesome!)
It's OK to show up in the same dress. It stinks to
choose a subject only because your friend did too!

5) Deal with parents!
Ooh! Parents' wishes of your subject choices clash with yours! Been there, done that myself! This can be very hard (especially if you have those parents who want you to study medicine/law!! I know right?). Sit down with your parents and tell them you're not that good at the subject they expect you to do, and that it won't be no use if you won't put your whole heart into your studies. If they still don't budge, make a compromise - you'll pick 2 of the subject they want, and you'll pick 2 you truly enjoy. At the beginning of the next year, they might see that their choice of subjects is not for you and let you change them! Also, if you're sneaky, have someone else talk to them about this, like their friends - it might help to have backup!
'I'm gonna be a singer, Mum, whether you like it or NOT!'
'But I know BEST!'

6) Do subjects you're good at!
There's no point studying something you have no intention of pursuing in the future or what you aren't good at. My friend did Biology just because she thought it looks good on her University Application - she got an E! Therefore, this is not a good thing to do! Besides, the subjects you're good at will be much easier and enjoyable! Although Maths may be more useful, it's better to get an A in Film Studies than a D in Maths!
Bratz
Passion for fashion? Then choose the right subjects
for your career path (Art/Textiles)

7) Make lists
Old-fashioned, but super helpful! Make a list of definitely, maybe, and definitely NOT sections of subjects that your future school offers. If your definitely column is half empty, ask a teacher or your school career adviser for help. If, on the other had, it's overflowing, you need to think which subjects are important for your future, which you're best at, and which you'll enjoy the most! For example, if you love Drama, but also Biology, Economics, Maths and English, and need them for your future career, do drama outside of school (this is just an example - it depends on your subject priorities).
Should I do Media or Photography or Business?

8) UCAS
If you know which career is right for you, visit UCAS and look up various jobs - click *right here* to find your dream job's subject requirement. For example, if you want to do medicine, click m, then medicine. It will give you a list of Uinversities and Colleges in the UK where you an study medicine. Pick a University, click on entry requirements, then click course specific requirements, and browse through - it should tell you what subjects they require at what grade! It's awesome.
If you're still struggling to figure out what career path is right for you, still have a look at this thing, it's great.

9) Try stuff out!
You might be surprised with some subjects! Maybe there's one out there that you think is not for you - but will find it's actually perfect! Taster sessions should be available, open evenings are happening and teachers are there to tell you what the course includes! Who knows, maybe History isn't so bad after all.
If you're losing sleep over which subject NOT to take, this might also help you realize that actually, that subject isn't too important for you.

10) Message Dear It Girl
If you have a different problem, send me an e-mail at itgirlvibe@gmail.com. I'll be glad to help - after all, I've been in your shoes a year ago!

PS: Don't stress if you don't know yet - there's always a chance to change your options. After you get your GCSE results, and even after the first few weeks of school!

Adele gives birth to a baby boy! Trolls Attack!

Adele gave birth yesterday, on the 21st October - the same month as MY birthday!

Congratulations! Promise to report his name as soon as I find out!

However, the planet Earth does contain a certain percentage of low-lifes, ie spiteful trolls.
Trolls can be funny, but some people just cross the line - it's ridiculous!
Adele has received loads of twitter and Facebook threats - they're sick!
'Aw adele gave birth to a baby. Just murder it already lol'
'I'll go to UK and kill her'
'I see Adele has given birth to a boy. If she randomly picks my baby name I may have to kill her' - this comes from an ADULT!!!

What the hell.
Sick is all I can say.

But Adele, hopefully, will not care and enjoy and love her new baby - congratz again!

Misha B: Do You Think of Me

Misha B is probably one of my favourite music artists. And she's touring with Nicki Minaj! Well done, Misha!
I love her new single, Do You Think of Me. View it!
Now it might seem like it's a song about her ex, but apparently, it's about her mother who left her when she was young. This is too emotional, even for me!
Misha B is awesome, she just gives off this great vibe. And I really do hope her career will continue and rise, especially after the tour!

She's so pretteeey!

MK1 X Factor - "Our phonelines were down"

Last night's X-Factor - shock, right? Not only did I miss the performers at the beginning - MK1 didn't get through. And I actually LIKED them. It takes A LOT for me to like someone on the X Factor. A lot.

Anyway, MK1 today revealed in an interview that their fans were Facebooking and Tweeting them that they couldn't get through to X Factor to vote for their favourite band!

Sugarscape were lucky enough to score an interview with the duo. Here is the video where everything is explained:
Apparently, the voting lines were closed for about 3 hours. Other contestants' were working just fine. Let's just hope our famous X Factor producers will fix this one and get MK1 back into the game. Although with Charlie admitting how she really feels about the judges' criticism, well, I don't think she helped herself there... But hey, honesty is the best policy, and I respect that!
With or without X-Factor - I'm sure they'll do just fine, they have what it takes!

Make-Up: Autumn 2012

Some trends are for a season, and some are for a reason. Well, seasons win for me!
[Totally off topic: Hannah Montana, anyone?]

The eye
Two words: Smokey Peacock!
If you're already a fan of dark panda eyes, then great! Simply add shades of green, purple, turquoise and hints of blonze to your grey eyeshadow! Pearl wins over matte this time, definitely! So get that sparkly out and stun with your bold yet classy eyelids.
PS: Keep everything else strictly natural - that means no blush, no lipstick, not even coloured gloss!

The lips
Wake up the snow white within you, with these red-as-blood lips!
Apply your vermilion lipstick with a brush (or straight from the bullet if you're ace at this, like me). Definitely outline your lips - either with a lip pencil, or with the edge of the lipstick. For lip volume effect, dab a lighter red in the middle of your lips and press lips together to blend the colours (or use your fingers). Voila!
PS: You may think this look only suits pale skin - well, you'd be surprised how well it looks on most skin tones! Keep everything else low-key, especially the eyes, but you can contour the cheekbones with a gentle shade of blush (whichever suits your skin tone).

The eyebrow
Don't worry, none of that jewelled eyebrow stuff! It might look great on the catwalks, but not so much in the school halls. However, big brows are taking over!
If your eyebrows are naturally big - luckkkyyyy! If not, don't worry - draw them on! However, use a pencil that is close to your natural eyebrow colour, and don't enlarge your brows too much - only so that it is bold enough to be seen, but realistic. You don't want people to be turning their heads as you walk by... for the wrong reason! If you're thinking - it's not for me! Try just brushing your brows upwards for the 'woken up' look! Fresh.
PS: To make your new eyebrows feel welcome, add some blush, and eyeliner or eyeshadow - your other facial features could otherwise fall into the background.

Cookie, the BarryM bunny!

If you're a fan of Barry M cosmetics, you must've heard about darling Cookie!
Cookie is the Barry M bunny, who stands proudly to show off the fact that Barry M cosmetics are strictly against animal testing on products, cosmetic ingredients, or companies who support animal testing!
A few months ago, I would come home from school, visit barrym.com, and go straight to the Bunny Cam - this is an amazing feature which let anyone with flash watch Cookie in her luxury home! You could see she was taken very well care of, she's not just an advertising pet! She is so cute - look it!

Sad news, though! All I'll say is, rest in peace Cookie.

Message for Cookie!

This post is a tribute and respect paying to Cookie, whom I've never met, yet liked so much. Taking care of a rabbit myself, I know what amazing creatures they are.

And cheers to Barry M, who are one of the few cosmetic companies who gave up animal testing completely!

Dear It Girl, what maccup can I use if Im only 10?

Whoopie! My very first advice help e-mail came today!

Q - What maccup can I use if Im only 10?
[Translation: What make-up can I use if I'm only 10 years old?]
A - Well. My advice is very simple. Find a box of felt-tips in your room. Use red as lipstick, blue as eye shadow and some orange to add blush to your baby cheeks! You'll look all grown up! Here's a video to help you, if you want to take things to an even further level!
Hahahahahahahahhaa.
No, but seriously. You're 10. The only make-up you need is.. well, none. The one thing I can't stand is little girls who try to be grown ups. And L'Oreal. And celebrities who thinks they're queens. And fake reality shows. Aaand girls who think you love love them. Annnndd teachers who give you DETENTION for not bringing homework, and then they forget to grade your test, claiming they 'have other students' - well, I have other LESSONS! *#$&@£!*
Ooops, got a little of the point there. Anyway, Alice, I'm sure you're a beautiful gal and don't even need make-up. You don't want to block your skin from getting its air. It's healthy to be natural. Plus, you're a kid for only a few more years, but you'll have plenty of time using make-up as an adult!
If you really want to wear make-up, use lipgloss. But no more.

Sweet Dreams: Dream Journals

If you happened to read Seventeen magazine a few issues back, you might've come across an interview with Shay (I-love-her) Mitchell! You would've also read that she keeps a dream journal, which, as I found out, isn't such a bad idea. Here's how.
A nice decor for a dream book
(www.cool2craft.com)
  • Get a small journal. It doesn't have to be expensive - in fact, a simple cover is a great decorating base. Stickers, drawings, gift wrappers etc. can all serve as a personalizing touch to your journal.
  • Start writing in all your future plans, crazy fantasies and hopes: If you like your notes random, messy, short and sweet, then just fill your dream book cover-to-cover with any of your dreams, nightdreams, advice and doubts you'd like to change.
  • If you are organised, unlike me, split it into: Daydreams, Nightdreams,  Future, and any other topics you might come up with, but these 3 are the classics.
Daydreams: This is the place for any thoughts you had during your school time when you were drifting into your own little world (happened to me at Chem class today - major embarrassment, but it was worth it, as I came up with my party costume!). You might be thinking about saving someone's life, travelling the world, or crushing someone's dreams as the X Factor judge. Only write down what you'd like to remember and can be bothered with, you don't want to write everything unless you have absolutely nothing to do until midnight. Boo!

Nightdreams: Have many weird, weird dreams and curious what they might mean? Or you might just have OCD like me, and want to remember lots of your dreams just to have a laugh in the future? Then keep your dream book under you pillow or something, and everytime you had a dream, write it down soon after you wake up (this is when the dream is still fresh in our mind). Then you can figure out, laugh at them with friends or just feel really cool for having a dream/nightmare book. If like writing stories, your very won dreams can be the start of a new best selling novel! Thumbs up!

Future: Nothing can be more nerve-wracking than being lost in your future plans - I should know. Whether you can't pick between many career pathways, or nothing is good enough for you, a dream book can help. Write down every single option you may take in the future. If you don't know, you can write down any crazy fantasies. Here is an example:
 SCHOOL:
 - Complete school with 3 A's and 1 B to get my University course in Business
 - Study Law at Oxford Uni and become BFFs with Emma Watson there
 - OR get a sport scholarship in the USA (tennis)
 - OR continue junior college course for 1 year in health and social care

 WORK:
 - Create and sell jewelry online
 - Create a well known fashion brand
 - Become a lawyer

 DREAMS:
 - Fly to Zimbabwe to help with school and house building
 - Stop L'Oreal from animal testing
 - Meet Misha B and sing on stage with Beyonce
 - Be the main role in series like Gossip Girl

This is just an example, although some of these things appeal to me :) My dream book looks completely different.

Lastly, just write down any thought, any advice people give you about your future etc. You know how to handle it!
WARNING: Dream books may be very embarrassing if your peers get their hands on them. Therefore, I advise you to do an Alison DiLaurentis and keep your secrets well hidden. This is especially crucial if you share your house with a younger sibling - you know what I mean!
DeeDee - the annoying sibling!

Autumn Colours 2012

Know your stuff! Last year, the shops were overflowing with royal jewel colours (jade, amber, topaz, ruby, garnet, amethyst, blah, blah), lots of yellow ochre and mustard, beiges and all sorts of browns. To put it in a more basic way, the staple shades in 2011 Autumn were mustard, dark orange, wine and dark turquoise.

This year, the palette has moved on from warmer colors. Of course, if you put on an ochre coat or an orange dress, you're doing no harm, the opposite in fact. This is just to develop new trends to diffuse into the old ones.

Here is your classic 2012 Autumn palette (England based).

Fuchsia
Borwn-Black
Turquoise/Jade
Wine
Honey
Titanium
Tangerine

Fall colours, less English based, but still amazing!
