Original Halloween Costumes

I'm no big fan of Halloween, especially when your costume being spooky is a must. Whether you're heading off to a party, or are still sticking to trick or treating, celebrate Halloween American style this year - leave the serial killer outfit in the closet and grab yourself a fun costume that no-one will have.

Sims

  • Grab a thin headband, preferably the same colour as your hair
  • Get a wire or a pipe-cleaner, attach firmly to your headband, and leave a long straight line of wire/pipe-cleaner pointing up for the diamond to be attached
  • Create the green diamond using 2 sheets of bright green paper - if you can't make a paper diamond, have a read of this page: http://www.ehow.com/how_4532798_sims-plumbob-halloween-cosplay.html  or check out this awesome YouTube vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx2JJabk6tk
  • Attach the diamond to your wire
  • Wear any Sims like clothes you fancy! Easy as pie - yum.

Famous
Lady G, Bruno Mars, Marilyn Monroe, Britney... You name it! Dressing up as celebrities can be great fun. Just two tips:
  • Make sure your person is easy to recognize - for example, anyone can tell you're Snooki if you plaster yourself with fake tan and backcomb your hair like crazy, or if your pants are up to your waist, it's clear Simon Cowell is your costume.
  • You don't have to spend too much cash on your outfit. Let's take a Lady G costume. Just grab a skirt, a short black jacket or a sparkly top, a blonde, fringed wig. Then add some sparkly rhinestones on your sunglasses, or draw on a lightening bolt like she does. Voila!
  • Lady Gaga a la Alison (Pretty Little Liars)
    Food and other Objects
  • Think: what things do you love? Here are some exaples:
  • Pizza - cut two big circles from cardboard and decorate like a pizza. Tie them together with a long ribbon and throw over your shoulders - you're back-and-front pizza! You can do this with other items like a candy bar or juice box . A phone even!
  • Raspberry - put on a red top and bottoms. Blow up lots of red balloons and tie them; and use safety pins to attach them to your clothes by the bottom of the balloon. You can do this with green or purple grapes too. You're not getting any hugs tonight, unless you wanna pop!
  • Box costumes - Put on a cardboard box (make some holes for arms, legs and head, silly!). Now decorate it - raisin, cereal, telephone, juice, claw machine, dice, milk and board-game boxes are just a few examples. Another great idea is a doll box. Dress up like a doll, and put on one of those long cardboard boxes (cut out the front just like a doll box, and holes for legs). Ta-dah!

Group ideas
Another super idea is to dress up with a group of friends! Get creative, but here are just a few suggestions:
  • Crayola - each dress head to toe in one different colour. For example, if you'd be green crayon, put on green leggings and a green tee. Each write 'Crayola' over your T-shirt in black. Wear a party hat of your colour for the tip of the crayon.
  • TV characters - Adams Family, Flintstones, Smurfs, Simpsons, Tellytubbies... the choice is endless. My favourite one is Pretty Little Liars: dress in black dresses and cover your face and body with a bit of brown make-up for mud! Which one of your friends will be Spencer and who'll be Emily? Haha!
  • Rock, paper, scissors - If there's three of you, this can be a fun choice, don't you think?

Buuuut...
If you choose to stick to the boring old scary-or-nothing attitude, fine. Splash your costume with fake blood or something. There. You're a bloody crayon now. Well done..
